I did it. I hit the treadmill for a full 30 minutes. My lungs and heart pained me a bit, but was completely manageable. My knees and hips were almost completely absent from our jogging conversation today.
Sometimes you just have to push through the pain, not give up and keep doing it. What does not kill you WILL make you stronger, if you can just be steady and sure in your approach.
It felt really good today.
I was a little concerned that my Fathers Day dinner was going to upset the balance today. I splurged a bit. Saturday night, we went to Lucille's Smokehouse and I had a loaded baked potato and a rack of pork ribs. It was so friggen good! More calories and meat then I am used to eating lately, but so worth it.
Sunday, I was busy all day so I ended up having a peach some almonds and a glass of juice until dinner time. We then had a vegetarian Black Bean soup with some white bean hummus spread with whole wheat toast. It was yummy too! (not as much as the ribs tho...) My wife made all of this from scratch (Soup, White Bean Spread and the Bread) - she is AWESOME!
I figure that if I can enjoy what I eat on certain holidays and special occasions then the daily health foods are just a means to an end. And I am goal oriented, so this plan works our well.
Oh yeah, hello week 5!
