I do NOT Sweat like a pig...

Today was my Cardio day.  50 minutes on the Elliptical.  Felt friggen AWESOME!  Until I got off the machine, and almost collapsed due to the fatigue in my legs.  Still, I am that much closer to my 60 minute goal.

Here is the downside (possibly an upside, I'll explain later...) to all this working out.  My body heats up, and I sweat.  I am not a stinky sweater (prolly TMI), but my head, and neck get pretty drenched.  The issue is I continue to sweat up to an hour or more after I have STOPPED exercising.  Yup.  My heart rate, and body temp take a while to cool down I suppose.  Very inconvenient.  Here I am, all dressed up in my work duds and my body won't turn the water faucets off.  The only upside is, if I continue to sweat I must still be burning calories, correct?  Lets hope...

I used to hear a phrase "Sweats like a Pig", but it turns out that Pigs don't really sweat, as they have very few sweat glands.  So, I do NOT sweat like a pig.  I sweat more like a low pressure shower, that's it.  I hope that as my body gets more and more in shape, that I sweat for less time.

There you have it.  Been a good week so far, 3 days of working out left - lets see what other goals I can reach...

Week 10

I had a great workout today. 35 minutes on the elliptical, and 6 resistance/weight training exercises at 2 sets each. This work out, shall now be called the "Monday workout".

It felt really good, I feel the muscles doing something without too much fatigue. Last week, I over did it, and way too much pain was my reward. I spent two days not being able to extend either arm past 45 degrees. Boy did that suck. Opening a car door, or just reaching for a set of keys set my arms on FIRE! FIRE BAD!

Here is a list out the exercises that are working well.

Machine Chest Press
Machine Shoulder Press
Cable Triceps Pushdown
Lat Pulldown
Machine Biceps Curl
Cable Seated Row

Mon/Wed/Fri will be Cardio + Weight Training. Tues and Thurs will be extended Cardio. Lets see how this works...

I sincerely hope that everyone has a great week, after all it is only MONDAY !!!

Im BAACCKKK!!!

Whew. Vacation was fun. I did not work out as much as I would have liked, but I stayed pretty true to my new eating habits. Lost some weight, and had a great time on the road trip visiting and spending time with Kristie's extended family in Idaho Falls, ID and her immediately family in Colfax, WA.  The highlight for me was definitely Oliver’s 3 year old Birthday party. It was a blast. Some pics and a couple of short Video's of the birthday bash is coming soon.

Today I did 30 minutes of cardio on the Elliptical. My speed is improving, averaging around 5.5 mph now. I also went upstairs to the weight room and had a fairly decent upper body workout. I’m feeling good today.

I am SSSOOoooooo missing my family...

My wife and kids are still up in Washington, hanging out with the grandparents and enjoying the much cooler weather up there. I plan to fly back up there the first week of August and drive them back to Arizona.

In the meantime, my house is very quiet and very lonely. I really miss my wife and 2 boys. I do get to Skype (Video) with them often enough, but it is not the same. A few times my little boy has said "Please come to Papa's house", "Daddy, I miss you" or "Daddy, I wanna go home". It breaks a father’s heart. I never would have guessed that 3 weeks away from them would be so friggen hard. I know that G-Ma and G-Pa are having a great time hanging out with their grandkids, and my wife is enjoying the cooler weather. She is enjoying it so much, that she (daily) keeps talking to me about moving back to Washington, or even Idaho Falls where her Aunt lives. We will see.

I have been working on some home improvement projects. I hung a Pot Rack in the kitchen, replaced some drywall in the dining room, been working on the downstairs toilet amongst a few other little projects. I tried tightening and pruning all my trees and bushes in the backyard. Holy cow is it friggen HOT OUTSIDE! 110+ degrees, is NOT a recommended environment to work on the yard. Period. I also hope to completely re-do one of my garages. It is finally time to move out all of the clutter of my single car into the 2 1/2 car garage (temporarily), and get serious about setting up all my tools into a functional wood shop. Bad timing I guess, as it is so friggen hot, but it needs to be done. Oh yes, it will be done.

It is good to be back, good to be back at the gym, it is good to be moving forward on my goals again…

End of Week 6 - Vacation Baby!

Ahh yes, the end of week 6.

Was a good week all around.  The elliptical really is getting funner and funner.  During the last 5 minutes of my 40 minute jaunt today, I was actually Bouncing from step to step.  Like a bunny rabbit.  It was exhilarating.  Quite fun really.  I am a little scared about next week as I will be on vacation with the family for 9 days.  5 of them on the road.  Gonna need a  checklist.  Things like...

  • Cold Bottled Water in the Car at all times
  • Protein Shake in Car
  • Remember to take Jogging shoes and Roller Blades
  • Stock the cooler with veggies and fruits
  • Exercise daily, sweat for 30 minutes or more
  • etc.

I am bound and determined to not just keep my health and weight the same, but hopefully (if I do this right) my cardio and weight will continue to improve, even on vacation.  After all, everything I have been working on is a new way of life (forever), isn't it?  Wish me luck!

Cheese is the devil!

Ok, this week I told myself that any Milk Cheeses and Creams were no longer on the Menu.  Easily said.  Harder than hell to adhere to.  I was at a restaurant the other day, and said Self, order the grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad.  So I did.  After the sandwich was completed (It was yummy!) I realized it had been layered with Brie cheese.  Dang it!  I must do better.  I will tell you tho, it is AMAZING how many typical menu items at a restaurant has added Sugar, made from beef, is Fried or has Cheese.  No wonder this country is so friggen fat.

Anyhoo.  I will not make many blog posts most likely, over the next week or so.  I really hope everyone has a great 4th of July Weekend!

Woot woot!
